this story of a jehovah's witness who became catholic is at the top of the heap.
i was angered at what happened when he opened up and poured out his heart to a "caring" brother.. cc.

hello people.. i'm tired and a bit sick at the moment but i can't let anyone think that this is going to go away.... i am able to tell you a few things in order to prevent any confusion in the minds of those who are thinking that nothing will come of this arc;that nothing will effect the wtbts in america and other places.. i have been there and given my testimony.
helen milroy and her assistants were there along with another group of people who are there to lend assistance if you crack up at any time during or after the hearing.
i did not crack up but can see how this happens.. security is tight and anonymity is sacred to them as they want to protect all who come forward.
Love and peace, Dear Umberto!

jan used a famous scientist to garner misleading support for creation, quoting rama singh as saying "the opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population.
2015 jan p.3) whilst the quote is accurate, it misrepresents singh's intention.
singh continues in the same paragraph, "there are several reasons why facts of evolution are not easily comprehensible by the general masses.

Editor of Awake (Magazine)
Jehovah’s Witnesses
Dear Editor,
I am writing to protest your Awake Magazine article, “The origin of life – five questions worth asking”, dated January, 2015″, in which you have misquoted me by taking half a sentence out of context from my article on evolution. Contrary to what you imply, I do not support a creationist view, nor do I suggest that even a minority of scientists support such a view. Anyone who reads my article can see that I fully support the theory of evolution (Singh 2011).
In my article, I follow the paragraph from which you have misquoted me with material showing why the facts of evolution are hard to comprehend for many people. My article is meant for people who want to understand evolution but who do not have the expertise to do so, not for creationists like you who oppose evolution on religious grounds.
Your misquotation amounts to intellectual dishonesty and reflects on your character and dignity as editor as well as a man of God. I can understand that you do not accept evolution as an explanation for the biodiversity on this planet, but I cannot understand why you would knowingly misuse a scientist’s work to make him appear supporting the creationist point of view.

when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.
1970s: Counseled by CO (CS then) for wearing corduroy sports jacket in service.

so as many know....ive been df'd goin on 19 years already.
i drive pops to meetings, and drop him off on saturdays for fs.. well yesterday, the elders ask to speak to me, and tell me that if i plan on returning to jehovah, i had better shave my beard off..
omg!!!!!!
Greetings, brandnew:
Good for you, helping your dad.
I can see any adult child driving Mom and Dad wherever they need to go, even church. The loving child doesn't have to attend or believe. Ray Franz, in IN SEARCH OF CHRISTIAN FREEDOM, praised a disfellowshipped woman for regularly driving an elderly relative (aunt, I believe) to meetings.
BTW, while still attending the KH, I regularly answered, encouraged by one elder in particular. This, despite hair down my back and a beard. Guess there's more to all this outward appearance thing than meets the eye. Baptized 50 years . . .
Best regards to you and your family.

my husband and i went to visit his family for the holidays.
not everyone showed for the visit ,the weather was lousy, and it just generally sucked.
now we're back to the same old routine with work and life and we're both depressed and alone.
Thank you for explaining, BYCNL.
It takes a long time to let go, and things rarely turn out as we would hope. My entire family followed me in almost 50 years ago. Some, like me, have left, but others remain in. I feel responsibility for my influence. Of course, making a so-called dedication to God is a serious thing, and I've learned (finally) when to keep quiet.
Give yourselves time. Change is difficult. StoneWall's excellent suggestions have already been implemented by many of us. We really are getting on with our lives and are happier than ever.
Blessings and Peace.

I'm sorry, BYCNL, for your feelings of depression. It's worse this time of year, too, as you noted. Your husband's family are or aren't JWs? I wasn't sure because you visited them for the "Holidays."
Staying around here on the forum should help cheer you up -- you'll be getting some more responses soon, I'm sure.
Back in a bit.
Love,
